The Santa Clarita Optimist Foundation (SCOF) is composed of elected members from the Canyon Country Optimist Club, which has been a service club for 7 years in the Santa Clarita Valley. in 2014, the SCOF was recognized as a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization by the IRS and by the State of California Charitable Trust. Our mission is to bring our the best in Santa Clarita’s kids, today and tomorrow by providing support for youth in need. Our Board Members are elected to a three year term.

Norbert Moniz, Sr.
Norbert has been a member of an Optimist Club for 35 years. During that time, "I have served the Optimist International as Vice President, the Pacific Southwest District as Governor, the Canyon Country Optimist Club for two terms, and now I am fortunate to be President of the Santa Clarita Optimist Foundation, a public charity. I am currently retired from the retail furniture industry, and enjoy living in the Santa Clarita Valley. I enjoy painting, cooking, spending time with my family, and serving our community."
Jim has been a devoted and distinguished Optimist for more than 48 years as a Charter Member of the Van Nuys Airport and Westwood at UCLA Optimist clubs, as well as a Board member and past vice president of Optimist International. Jim has helped to mentor new clubs in Southern and Mid-California for the Pacific Southwest District of Optimist International. In addition to being an innovator and trail-blazer in business, he also enjoys time with his family and volunteering for International, District and local Optimist club activities and programs that help to bring out the best in our children.
Founder of Duben and Associates, Certified Public Accountants, Steve received his Bachelor's Degree from Woodbury College. His extensive background includes many years with the Internal Revenue Service and over 30 years' experience in public accounting. Steve has been with the Greater Santa Clarita Optimist Club, serving with his wife Pam and currently serves as their Secretary/Treasurer. Annually, they organize the Festival of Trees for the Optimist Youth home and Family Services agency.
Dianne has been a member of the Canyon Country Optimist Club since 2014. I have served on the Board of Directors for the club and the Board of the Santa Clarita Optimist Foundation, in a variety of capacities for the last several years. I have served as Secretary for the Foundation for the past 3 years. I was recently elected to serve as Vice-President for the club for the year 2017-2018. " Professionally, Dianne has worked in the Information Technology sector, both as a Project Manager and as a Project Coordinator for the last twenty-five years, mostly with IBM. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, literature and traveling.
Adelaide has many facets to her life. She is a retired comptroller of 4 M Corporation. She adores her family; she is the mother of four and has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adelaide has contributed more than 40 years of community service to our Valley. She is a past Governor of the Junior Womens Club, Past Distinguished President of the Canyon Country Optimist Club and Past President of the Tehachapi Optimist Club."I enjoy volunteering to help those in need"
Bryan is Financial Associate for Thrivent Financial in Santa Clarita. He has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for 25 years. "When I am not not working or spending time with family and friends, I enjoy giving back and helping support the community. What is great about the Optimist Foundation is what we are able to do to help support the youth of our community and seeing the impact it has on the lives of children." On behalf of Thrivent Financial, he volunteers to provide free child fingerprinting with ID cards to the children of Santa Clarita at many local events. At the 2016 and 2017 Safety Town camps, he and his volunteers issued ID cars for 150 children - little campers, their siblings, friends and CITS (youth volunteers)!
Vivian is a long time resident of Santa Clarita, and is married to Steve, a retired Captain for the LA County Fire Department. "I studied at Los Angeles Valley College, worked at Sierra Vista Junior High School and was a Bilingual Instructional Assistant for the William S. Hart Union High School District." Vivian was recently re-elected as the President of the Canyon Country Optimist Club (2018-2019). Because she does not have enough to do with her family and with community service, for fun, she serves as Chairperson of the 9th Annual Canyon Country Club Charity Auction, sponsored by the SCOF.
Linda has served the children of Santa Clarita for many years as powerful advocate for disabled and disadvantaged children. She volunteered to serve as a member of the Foundation Board of Directors. She has worked as an Instructional Assistant for the William S. Hart School District, at Valencia High School's program for Special Education. She is a patient, enthusiastic volunteer who is ready to volunteer for all tasks, She loves all of her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and finds time to attend their weekly baseball and skating practices and games! She is a devoted LA Dodgers' fan. Linda is a very special woman to have with our Foundation!
